BPD in the Community: Boston Police Joins Mayor Wu and City Organizations at Almont Park Tennis Court Dedication

Members of the BPD Command Staff and District B-3 were honored to attend the Almont Park Tennis Court Dedication in Mattapan!

Our officers joined Mayor Michelle Wu, the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, and the Lewis family. The courts were officially renamed in honor of Albert “Bootsie” Lewis – a beloved local tennis coach, community leader, and founding member of the Sportsmen’s Tennis and Enrichment Center, the first African-American Tennis Club in the U.S.

It was a meaningful day celebrating Mr. Lewis’ legacy and the lasting impact he had on generations of athletes and neighbors alike. We look forward to seeing the courts continue to bring the community together for years to come!
