On Sunday, July 13, 2025, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Anthony Rainey, 38, of Boston, on firearm charges and violation of auto laws.
About 12:50 AM, officers were on directed patrol in the area of Page Street towards Glenway Street. A vehicle was seen to have excessive window tint, as well as tinted license plate covers on both the front and rear license plates.
The vehicle came to a complete stop near Glenway towards Old Road, and then slowly rolled through the intersection. The operator observed officers, and stopped his vehicle in the middle of the road for over fifteen seconds. Officers conducted a U-turn in order to get behind the vehicle to conduct a traffic stop.
At this time, the vehicle began to drive evasively and in complete disregard for safety as he failed to stop for a stop sign, and continued to cross two lanes of traffic. Officers immediately activated their cruiser’s lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop at 1 Franklin Park Road.
Officers approached the vehicle, and the operator rolled down his window approximately one inch. Multiple requests were made for the operator to roll the window down further, which he refused. The operator was making multiple movements inside the vehicle, reaching towards the glove box and center console. Officers observed the operator to continuously be pinning his left arm to his body as he moved.
Further requests were made for the operator to roll the window down, but he continued to refuse. Officers opened the driver’s side door, and the operator continued the left side of his body. The operator was slurring his speech and an exit order was given.
Once the suspect exited the vehicle, he continued to blade the left side of his body away from officers. A pat frisk was conducted, and a firearm was recovered from the suspect’s left pocket. The firearm was determined to be a Ruger .380 CCP with six rounds in the magazine.
Rainey was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the following charges:
– Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Third Offense
