On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested 19-year-old Jabari Entzminger of Franklin, MA on multiple firearm-related charges during a traffic stop at 37 Ellington Street in Dorchester.
At approximately 10:09 PM, officers were patrolling the area of Erie Street and Seaver Street when they observed a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction with excessively tinted windows. A query of the vehicle’s license plate revealed that the vehicle’s insurance had been revoked and that it may have been wanted in connection with a separate investigation.
Officers initiated a motor vehicle stop on Ellington Street to investigate further. As they approached the vehicle, both rear passenger doors suddenly opened, and two of the four occupants attempted to exit. Officers quickly instructed them to remain inside. One of the passengers briefly argued with officers but eventually complied. He was then asked to exit the vehicle and attempted to do so using a different door, one occupied by another rear passenger, later identified as Jabari Entzminger.
All occupants began to exhibit behavior consistent with someone possibly armed, prompting officers to conduct a pat frisk and further investigation. A backpack located near Entzminger’s seat was searched, and inside, officers recovered a black and silver Bersa Thunder 9 semi-automatic pistol. The firearm was loaded with one round in the chamber and four additional rounds in the magazine.
Entzminger was taken into custody and later arraigned in Dorchester District Court on the following charges:
- Possession of a Firearm without a License
- Carrying a Large Capacity Firearm without a License
- Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
- Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers also recovered a plastic bag containing four smaller baggies filled with a substance believed to be crack cocaine, located near the driver’s side door. The operator of the vehicle was issued a citation for operating with revoked insurance and excessive window tint and will be summonsed to court for Possession of a Class B Substance with Intent to Distribute.
