Boston Most Wanted Suspect Arrested Following a Person with a Gun Call

On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) arrested Michael O’Keefe, 51, of Braintree, for motor vehicle law violations and an active arrest warrant.

About 9:02 AM, officers responded to the area of 529 Main Street for a report of a person with a gun. Officers were advised that a driver of a vehicle had displayed a firearm, and it was seen traveling inbound on Rutherford Avenue towards the Bunker Hill Community College area.

A Sergeant working a Paid Detail on the North Washington Street bridge, observed the vehicle stopped at the Keaney Square traffic light in the left lane towards Commercial Street. With the assistance of responding officers, the vehicle was stopped and an exit order was given.

Officers requested the operator to produce a driver’s license which he stated he did not have one. Officers determined that suspect’s identity and that he had an active arrest warrant out of Boston Municipal Court for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.

Further investigation of the vehicle’s registration revealed that it had an inactive status. During a motor vehicle inventory search, officers recovered a folding knife, and a bottle of Sabre pepper spray. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the registration plates were removed.

O’Keefe was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court for the following offenses:

–          Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License

–          Unregistered Motor Vehicle

–          Uninsured Motor Vehicle

–          Number Plate Violation to Conceal ID

–          Possession of Self-Defense Spray, Person with a Warrant
