On Friday, June 20, 2025, officers assigned to District D-14 (Brighton/Allston) arrested two juvenile males, ages 16 and 17, in connection with a series of break-ins at a commercial property located at 617 Cambridge Street in Brighton.
At approximately 8:59 PM, officers responded to a radio call for a triggered commercial alarm at the location. Upon arrival, officers conducted a perimeter check and began searching for signs of forced entry. During their search, they observed suspicious activity in the basement and located two individuals crouching in a stairwell. The suspects attempted to remain hidden but were detained without incident after exiting through a rear basement door.
These arrests follow a prior incident on Thursday, June 19, 2025, when officers responded to the same address for a similar alarm activation. During that response, officers found no one inside the building, but discovered a side door ajar and noted that the alarm panel had been forcibly removed from the wall. Further investigation revealed tampering with a rear door, indicating unauthorized access.
A follow-up investigation, including a review of security camera footage, revealed two individuals unlawfully entering the premises and vandalizing the alarm system. Detectives were able to identify the suspects as the same two juveniles involved in the June 20 incident.
The school’s management later reported that the property had been broken into on five separate occasions, although only two of those incidents had been officially reported.
Both juveniles were arrested and arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on the following charges:
16-Year-Old Male
- Delinquent to wit: Breaking and Entering Building at Nighttime for a Felony
- Delinquent to wit: Trespass with a Motor Vehicle
17-Year-Old Male
- Delinquent to wit: Breaking and Entering Building at Nighttime for a Felony
- Delinquent to wit: Possession of Burglarious Instrument
