On Thursday, June 12, 2025, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Javonni Walters, 20, of Dorchester, on multiple firearm related offenses.
At about 10:27 PM, officers were in the area of 105 Erie Street for a radio call of a group causing a disturbance. Boston Police Operations advised responding officers that a firearm was displayed.
Upon arrival, a male suspect was seen running from the area. Officers gave chase to the suspect, but he was able to evade escape. Officers cleared the scene, but remained in the area in search of the suspect.
An officer in an unmarked cruiser located the suspect getting into the vehicle with a group of other males. A marked cruiser responded, and observed that the vehicle was operating on Michigan Avenue with a defective right taillight.
Officers activated their cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop at 21 Michigan Avenue. Officers were able to speak with the operator of the vehicle, but the front and rear passengers refused to roll down their windows. After multiple attempts, both individuals compiled to roll their windows down.
Officers determined to conduct an exit order of all of the occupants. The rear passenger continued to not comply with officers’ orders and refused to exit the vehicle. The passenger was removed, and a fanny pack was observed near his seat.
A pat frisk was conducted of the vehicle and the bag, which revealed a firearm from inside. B-3 Detectives were requested to respond to the scene and determined the firearm to be a Sig Sauer P230 with one round in the chamber and six rounds in the magazine.
Walters was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the following offenses:
– Carrying a Firearm Without a License
– Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
– Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card
