Drug Investigation Leads to Firearm Arrest in Downtown Boston

On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) and members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Jermaine Omoregie, 35, of Dorchester, on various drug and firearm charges.

At about 11:10 AM, a Sergeant was conducting foot patrol in the area of the Boston Common. The supervisor observed a known drug user walking with an unknown male. The two individuals were seen walking towards Temple Place, and began to speak with a male later identified as Omoregie.

The group was seen walking towards the MBTA station, and stopping on the first landing of the stairwell. One of the individuals was seen to be holding an unknown item in his left hand, and a street level drug transaction was believed to have transpired.

Two of the individuals were stopped by the Sergeant, who identified himself as a Boston Police Officer. The two males were advised of the reason for the stop, and multiple loose pieces of crack cocaine were recovered. Both suspects were advised that they would be summonsed to court for Possession of Class B. A description and picture of the third suspect was disseminated to responding officers.

At about 11:50 PM, the third suspect was seen in the area of Bromfield Street and Washington Street. A second Sergeant was able to stop the suspect inside of 375 Washington Street. The suspect was advised that he was under arrest, and a struggle ensued.

During the struggle, the suspect continued to conceal his right arm to his body. With the assistance of responding officers, the suspect was safely placed into handcuffs. A firearm was recovered from the area of the where the struggle occurred. Officers also recovered a plastic container of crack cocaine.

A-1 Detectives were requested to respond to assist with photographing the scene and evidence. The recovered firearm was determined to be a Charter Arms PF Lite loaded with six rounds.

Omoregie was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court for the following offenses:

  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without an FID Card
  • Distribution of Class B
  • Possession With Intent to Distribute Class B
  • Armed Career Criminal Level 3
