Investigation Update: At about 2:00 PM, on Thursday, May 29, 2025, Andrew Oprian, 27, of Belmont, surrendered to Brighton District Court for charges of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Malicious Destruction of Property over $1,200. Oprian will appear for a dangerousness hearing at Brighton District Court at 2:00 PM, on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
The facts and circumstances surrounding the prior incident are as follows: At about 11:45 PM, on Friday, May 16, 2025, officers assigned to District D-14 (Allston/Brighton) responded to the area of 1032 Commonwealth Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Boston Police Operations informed officers that a man armed with a hatchet was smashing the windows of the crashed vehicle.
