Youth Violence Strike Force Recovers Firearm and Arrests Armed Suspect in Roxbury

On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, Officers assigned to the Boston Police Youth Violence Strike Force arrested 19-year-old Jabrell Reynolds of Roslindale on multiple firearm-related charges during a directed patrol in Nubian Square, Roxbury.

As part of ongoing efforts to reduce gun violence in the area, Officers were conducting a directed patrol of the Nubian Square neighborhood. At approximately 11:48 AM, while turning onto Mt. Pleasant Street from Dudley Street, Officers observed a group of teenagers gathered on the front steps of two brownstone buildings located at 35 and 39 Mt. Pleasant Street. Among the group, Officers immediately recognized Jabrell Reynolds.

As the Officers approached, Reynolds noticed their presence and quickly walked up the stairs and out of view. Officers continued their approach to investigate further and observed several individuals smoking marijuana on the steps. Reynolds was seen backed into a corner at the top of the stoop, sweating and appearing visibly nervous.

While investigating, Officers observed a firearm located in the corner of the staircase near where Reynolds had been standing. Detectives were called to the scene and recovered the weapon, identified as a .380 Glock 42 semi-automatic pistol. The firearm’s six-round magazine contained three live rounds, and an additional live round was found in the chamber. The serial number on the firearm had been obliterated.

Following the recovery and investigation, Reynolds was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on the following charges:

  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
  • Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
  • Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number
  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm
