Investigation Update: On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, detectives assigned to District D-14 (Allston/Brighton) obtained a straight warrant from the Brighton District Court charging Andrew Oprian, 27, of Belmont, with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Willful and Malicious Destruction of Property.
The facts and circumstances surrounding the prior incident are as follows: At about 11:45 PM, on Friday, May 16, 2025, officers assigned to District D-14 (Allston/Brighton) responded to the area of 1032 Commonwealth Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Boston Police Operations informed officers that a man armed with a hatchet was smashing the windows of the crashed vehicle.
