Roxbury Officers Recovered a Firearm Following a Shot Spotter Activation

At about 12:06 AM on Sunday, May 18, 2025, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to the area of 31 Adams Street for a ShotSpotter activation. While responding to the call, officers observed a vehicle idling at the intersection of Adams Street and Dubois Street. The vehicle was parked with no rear lights illuminated, but the front lights were turned on.

When officers attempted to turn their cruiser around to see if anyone was inside the vehicle, they observed the vehicle flee the area at a high rate of speed towards Orchard Park Street. The vehicle was then seen going down a one way in the wrong direction, and quickly turned into a parking lot behind 25 Ambrose Street. The vehicle was then seen to park diagonally across two spots.

At this time, officers activated their cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens to indicate to the operator that the vehicle was being stopped by police. As officers approached the vehicle, both occupants immediately exited and attempted to close the doors.

Both the occupants were stopped before closing the doors and were escorted to the rear of the vehicle. A firearm was immediately observed on the floorboard of the driver’s side, and the suspects were safely placed into handcuffs.

Detectives were requested to respond to the scene and process the evidence. The firearm was determined to be a Taurus G3C with one round in the chamber and nine rounds in the magazine. A laser sight attachment was also affixed to the firearm. Officers also at the original scene for the ShotSpotter activation recovered ballistic evidence from behind 31 Adams Street.

Mehki Young, 21, of Boston, was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for the following charges:
