Acute Observations Leads to the Recovery of a Firearm

At about 3:38 PM, on Sunday, May 18, 2025, officers assigned to the Haitian Parade were assisting with the flow of vehicles and pedestrians. While in the area of 1007 Blue Hill Avenue, officers observed an individual dressed in all black with the right side of his waistband appeared to be weighed down.

The suspect repeatedly pulled up on the right side of his pants, and consistently clutched that particular area. Officers approached the individual and advised him of the reason for the stop. A pat frisk was conducted and a firearm was recovered from the suspect’s waistband.

Detectives assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to the scene and determined the firearm to be a Springfield Armory XDS 45 ACP with one round in the chamber and four rounds in a magazine capable of holding six total rounds.
