At about 5:47 PM, on Thursday, May 1, 2025, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Naquan Mahone, 29, of Mattapan, on various firearm charges.
Officers were on patrol when they observed a group loitering in front of 1631 Blue Hill Avenue. As officers proceeded past the group, one of the individuals entered the establishment. Officers circled the block, and observed the individual exit the building without any items.
The individual now was alert to officers’ presence, and began to walk across the street without regard for traffic. Officers followed the individual and parked their cruiser in the area of 430 River Street. Officers exited their cruiser to speak with the individual, who immediately began to sprint in the opposite direction.
A foot pursuit ensued, and officers observed the suspect to be holding his waistband with both hands as he was running. Officers ordered the suspect to remove his hands from his pockets which he refused. Officers were able to catch up to the suspect, and a struggle ensued.
Officers immediately observed the suspect to be holding a firearm in his right hand. Officers ordered the suspect to drop the gun, which he continued to refuse. Officers were safely able to disarm the suspect, and placed the suspect into handcuffs.
Officers conducted a search of the suspect and recovered unknown pills in a small plastic bag. The firearm that was recovered was later determined to be a Sig Sauer P365 with one round in the chamber and ten rounds in the magazine.
Mahone was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the following charges:
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
- Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
- Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm
- Possession of Class B
- Resisting Arrest
