Youth Violence Strike Force Recovered a Firearm Following a Foot Chase

At about 5:54 PM, on Thursday, April 24, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Marquis Nicholas-Taylor, 25, of Hyde Park, on multiple firearm charges.

While conducting an investigation, officers located an individual walking on Walnut Avenue towards Rockland Street. Officers approached the known male, and he fled from officers on foot. A foot pursuit ensued, and officers observed the suspect to be holding his waistband as he was running.

Officers observed the suspect remove a firearm from his waistband, and dropped in on the ground. The suspect was apprehended as he attempted to climb over a fence. The recovered firearm was determined to be a Kimber Micro 9 with one round in the chamber and four rounds in the magazine.

Nicholas-Taylor was placed under arrest and will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for the following charges:

▪ Unlawful Possession of a Firearm

▪ Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm

▪ Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Subsequent Offense

▪ Firearm Violation with Two Prior Violent Crimes

▪ Trespassing

Nicholas-Taylor was also charged with violations of motor vehicles laws, and receiving a stolen motor vehicle.
