Roxbury Officers Recovered a Firearm Following a Traffic Stop

At about 9:00 PM, on Monday, April 14, 2025, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Karon Washington, 31, of Newton, on multiple firearm charges.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Circuit Street and Walnut Avenue when they observed a motor vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign. Officers activated their cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop in the area of 16 Fenno Street.

As officers approached the vehicle, they observed the operator making rapid movements and dipping his body towards the driver’s side floorboard. Officers tapped on the driver’s side window to get the operator’s attention. The operator did not roll down his window, but instead opened the door.

At this time, officers ordered the suspect out of the vehicle and conducted a pat frisk. Officers recovered a firearm from underneath the driver’s seat. The firearm was later determined to be a FN 5-7 with seventeen rounds in a magazine that was capable of holding twenty total rounds.

Washington was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for the following charges:

▪ Unlawful Possession of a Firearm

▪ Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm

▪ Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm

▪ Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Subsequent Offense

▪ Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device
