Dorchester Officers Recovered a Loaded Firearm After a Traffic Stop

At about 4:32 PM, on Sunday, April 13, 2025, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested Celso Depina, 37, of Dorchester, on various firearm offenses.

While officers were on a call in the area of 500 Geneva Avenue, they observed a motor vehicle exit the plaza and slam on its brakes to avoid striking a pedestrian. Officers then observed the vehicle swerving and almost striking a vehicle entering the plaza.

Officers entered their marked cruisers and activated their emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle refused to stop, until reaching the area of Geneva Avenue and Josephine Street. Officers made contact with the operator and ordered him out of the vehicle.

Officers conducted a pat frisk of the vehicle and recovered a firearm from inside. The firearm was later determined to be a Sig Sauer P365 with one round in the chamber and ten rounds in the magazine.

Depina was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the following charges:

▪ Carrying a Firearm Without a License

▪ Carrying a Firearm Without a License, 3rd Offense

▪ Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card

▪ Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License

▪ Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, Subsequent Offense

▪ Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
