At about 11:35 AM, on Sunday, April 13, 2025, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested Ricardo Montero, 36, of Dorchester, for Armed Robbery.
Officers responded to the area of 451 Washington Street for a larceny in progress. Officers were advised that an off-duty officer was inside the store when 911 was called. The off-duty officer observed the suspect stealing items from the store.
The off-duty officer identified himself as a Boston Police Officer and demanded the suspect to stop and drop the items. The suspect refused the officer’s orders and removed a hammer from his waistband. The officer was quickly able to disarm the suspect, and the suspect fled the scene.
Officers responding to the call began searching the area and located the suspect walking at a fast pace down Washington Street before turning left onto Algonquin Street. The officers exited their cruiser and demanded the suspect to stop.
Officers were able to stop the suspect, who immediately began to tense his body and pull his arms away from them. The suspect began to resist officers’ orders, but they were able to place him into handcuffs. Officers returned all the items which were valued at approximately $553.
Montero was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the following charges:
