On Saturday, April 5, 2025, detectives from District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested 19-year-old Reymi Pereira of Roxbury on multiple firearm-related charges following an investigation into a recovered firearm earlier that morning.
At approximately 4:26 AM, Officers from C-11 responded to a large party that had escalated into a verbal disturbance at 58 Westville Street in Dorchester. Upon arrival, officers observed several individuals fleeing the area, leaving behind numerous illegally parked vehicles. While awaiting tow trucks, an Officer noticed a vehicle speeding down Westville Street while repeatedly sounding its horn.
As the Officer approached the vehicle, it abruptly reversed and turned, striking the Officer in an attempt to flee. The vehicle then jumped a curb and nearly hit several other Officers before coming to a stop. The driver fled on foot. Officers broadcast a description of the suspect and began a search of the area. The injured Officer was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
At approximately 5:01 AM, Officers continuing their search observed a different vehicle speeding on Geneva Avenue toward Bowdoin Street. Although they temporarily lost sight of it, Officers later located the vehicle parked at 105 Norton Street. The engine was still hot, and there was a strong odor of burnt rubber in the air. While inspecting the vehicle, Officers spotted a firearm in plain view near the gas pedal through the dark-tinted windows. The vehicle was identified as a rental and was towed for further investigation.
The firearm was identified as a black Glock 17 9mm handgun with one round in the chamber and 30 live rounds in an extended magazine.
C-11 Detectives launched an immediate investigation, which led to the identification of Reymi Pereira as the individual responsible for the vehicle and firearm.
Approximately five and a half hours after the initial incident, Pereira walked into the District C-11 police station seeking information about his towed vehicle. Detectives recognized him from their investigation and engaged him in conversation in the station lobby. Following the interaction and further inquiry, Pereira was placed under arrest.
He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on the following charges:
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm
- Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device
- Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
