Loaded Firearm Seized, Suspect Arrested During Dorchester Traffic Stop

On Sunday, April 6, 2025, Officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested 35-year-old Christopher Andrade of Whitman, MA, following a traffic stop at 25 Columbia Road in Dorchester. Andrade is facing multiple charges, including firearm-related offenses.

At approximately 1:00 AM, Officers observed a vehicle traveling inbound on Columbia Road displaying an expired registration decal. A check confirmed that the vehicle’s registration was expired. Officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop in the area of 25 Columbia Road.

The driver, later identified as Christopher Andrade, was informed of the reason for the stop and notified that his vehicle would be towed. Officers then issued exit orders.

As Andrade exited the vehicle, Officers noticed a fanny pack positioned on his lap. Upon stepping out, Andrade shifted the fanny pack behind his back, prompting officers to further investigate its contents.

During the interaction, Andrade turned his body away from Officers and became increasingly confrontational. Based on his behavior and other observations, Officers believed he might be armed and informed him that he would be frisked.

When told he would be frisked, Andrade ignored commands and began to resist. After a brief struggle, Officers were able to safely detain him and recover the fanny pack. A search of the bag revealed a loaded firearm inside.

Detectives from District B-2 responded and identified the weapon as a Taurus 709 Slim, loaded with one round in the chamber and six rounds in the magazine.

Christopher Andrade was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on the following charges:

  • Carrying a Firearm Without a License
  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
  • Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle
