Suspect Arrested After a Person with a Knife Call in Roxbury

At about 6:45 PM, on Monday, March 24, 2025, officers assigned to District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) arrested Kavon Coston, 28, of Roxbury, on assault charges.

Officers responded to the area of 3084 Washington Street for a report of a person with a Knife. Officers were advised by the victim that the suspect believed that he was cut in line inside the store. The suspect left the store and returned holding a knife.

Officers were told that the suspect brandished a knife and chased the victim inside of the store. The victim attempted to defend himself and both parties were separated. The victim ran to the basement and locked himself inside for safety.

Officers were provided a description of the suspect and were able to stop him in the area of Columbus Avenue towards the Boston Public Library. The suspect was placed into handcuffs and officers recovered a knife. Officers conducted a search incident to arrest and also recovered eleven prescription pills.

Coston was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for the following charges:

  • Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
  • Possession of Class E
