Mattapan Officers Arrest Suspect with Large Capacity Firearm

At about 10:08 PM, on Monday, February 24, 2025, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Reheem Buckmire, 30, of Dorchester, on various firearm offenses.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Babson Street and Norfolk Street, when they observed a motor vehicle with no front license plate, and excessive window tint. Officers immediately activated their marked cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop. Officers were able to stop the vehicle at the corner of Norfolk Street and Mildred Avenue.

Officers made contact with the operator for her license and registration, which she did not have on her person. Officers observed the front seat passenger to not have his seatbelt on, and requested identification from him. As the passenger reached for his wallet, officers observed in plain view, the barrel of a firearm in between his legs.

Officers ordered the passenger to exit the vehicle, and observed him reaching to the floor. Officers quickly removed the suspect from the vehicle, and placed him into handcuffs. Officers recovered a firearm from inside the vehicle which was later determined to be a Glock 45 with nineteen rounds in an extended magazine.

Buckmire is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester Court for charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
