Stabbing Suspect Arrested by South End Officers

At about 9:02 AM, on Saturday, February 22, 2025, officers assigned to District D-4 (South End) arrested James Smith, 42, of Boston, following a stabbing incident.

Officers responded to the area of 616 Massachusetts Avenue for a report of an Armed Robbery in progress. As officers were responding, the call was upgraded to a person stabbed. Upon arrival, officers observed an adult male victim suffering from a minor laceration. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim advised officers that the incident occurred on Camden Street and provided them with a description of the suspect. Officers were told that the suspect stabbed the victim with a screwdriver, and the suspect was accompanied by an unknown female. The suspect also stole the victim’s pills, and money.

Officers began to canvass the area, and located an individual matching the description of the suspect in the area of 120 Camden Street. The suspect was accompanied by a female that also matched the description. Officers conducted a pat frisk of the suspect, and recovered a knife and a screwdriver from his pockets. Officers now searched the suspect and recovered a pill bottle with the victim’s name on it, and the money stolen from the victim. The property was later returned to the victim.

Smith was placed under arrest and charged with Armed Robbery, and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
