Human Trafficking Unit Arrests Six Suspects Following Search Warrants in Mattapan

At about 9:00 PM, on Thursday, February 6, 2025, members of the Human Trafficking Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, District B-3 officers, Massachusetts State Police High-Risk Victims Unit, and the FBI Child Exploitation & Human Trafficking Task Force executed search warrants as part of an ongoing investigation in the area of 884 Cummins Highway.

As officers were conducting a protective sweep of the apartment, they observed an opened window which appeared someone had jumped out of. Officers began to search the exterior of the building and observed a discarded Taurus G2C firearm loaded with one round in the chamber and eleven rounds in the magazine under the window. Officers also took notice of a blood stain in the snow which appeared to be from someone jumping out of the window.

Officers observed a vehicle fleeing the area, and were able to conduct a traffic stop in the area of 96 Wood Avenue. Officers made contact with the occupants, and determined that the operator did not have an active license. The operator, Jamell Spurill, 42, of Boston, was placed under arrest for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

Officers observed the passenger of the vehicle to have injuries consistent with jumping out of the window. The suspect was placed under arrest for two active warrants, and was additionally charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Defacement of a Firearm Serial Number, and Armed Career Criminal Level 3. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries prior to the booking process.

Officers still on scene at 884 Cummins Highway continued the execution of the search warrants and recovered seventeen plastic bags of Crack Cocaine. Officers placed the following suspects under arrest and are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

A 15-year-old Juvenile male, charged with Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

Betzabeliz Rivera, 31, of Mattapan, had an active warrant for Possession of Class B.

Amaury Guzman, 32, of Mattapan, had an active warrant for Unarmed Burglary.

Charles Griffin, 29, of Mattapan, had an active warrant for Shoplifting.
