Stolen Firearm Recovered During Traffic Stop in Roxbury

At about 6:30 PM, on Thursday, January 30, 2025, Officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force conducted a traffic stop in Roxbury, leading to the recovery of a stolen firearm and the arrest of 32-year-old Kasheiph Bonner, of Roxbury, on multiple weapons-related charges.

The Officers were in the area following a Shot Spotter activation earlier that day. While patrolling, their attention was drawn to a vehicle and conducted an inquiry, which revealed the vehicle’s registration was suspended. Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens and conducted a traffic stop near 149 Dewitt Drive, approximately one block from the original ShotSpotter activation.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the driver was identified and informed by Officers the reason for the stop. During the interaction, Officers observed suspicious behavior from the passenger, Kasheiph Bonner. An investigation into Bonner led to a subsequent pat frisk and search of a fanny pack that revealed a loaded Glock 9mm firearm, which was later confirmed to be stolen from Revere in October 2024.

Bonner was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for the following charges:

  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
  • Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm

The operator of the vehicle was issued a citation for operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
