On Friday, January 24, 2025, at about 12:40 PM, Officers assigned to District D-14 (Brighton/Allston) responded to a reported verbal disturbance at Mary Lyons School on Beechcroft Street, Brighton. The altercation involved multiple students, and school staff members intervened to de-escalate the situation.
During the incident, one student made threats before leaving the school in a vehicle. Concerns were raised by school staff that the dispute could escalate further, prompting Officers to remain on scene until dismissal.
Later in the afternoon, Officers received information about one of the involved students’ location near the school. The juvenile was spotted inside a nearby laundromat, where he attempted to flee upon seeing Officers. He was quickly detained for safety reasons due to the earlier threats.
While securing the scene, Officers discovered a black jacket near the suspect, which contained a loaded Smith & Wesson revolver with six rounds of .38 special ammunition.
The 16-year-old male juvenile was taken into custody and transported to D-14 for booking. He is expected to be arraigned in Brighton District Court for the following charges:
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
- Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
