A-1 Drug Control Unit Officers Recovered a Loaded Firearm and Trafficking Amounts of Crack Cocaine

At about 12:58 AM, on Friday, January 17, 2025, officers assigned to the Drug Control Unit of District A-1 (Downtown) arrested D’Vente Vick, 20, of Boston, on various firearm and drug offenses.

Officers were conducting a drug investigation in the area of Franklin Street and Hawley Street when they observed a group of males congregating near Post Office Square. As officers drove by the group, they observed one individual remove an item from his pocket and display it to the other individuals.

At this time, officers exited their cruiser and observed two individuals now exchanging the item. Officers believed that the group was engaged in a street-level drug transaction.

Officers approached two of the males and stopped them near Federal Court. Officers observed one of the males drop a plastic bag to the ground which contained Crack Cocaine. Officers advised both suspects that they would be summonsed to court for Possession of Class B.

Officers now followed the third individual who separated from the group, and stopped him in the area of 128 Tremont Street. With the assistance of two Detail Officers, the suspect was placed into handcuffs.

Officers conducted a search incident to arrest and recovered a plastic bag containing eight individual plastic bags, and $215 in U.S. Currency. Officers also located another plastic bag containing 78 individually wrapped bags of Crack Cocaine. The drugs were later weighed and determined to be a total of 44 grams.

Officers continued to search the suspect and recovered a firearm. The firearm was later determined to be a P80 with seven rounds in the magazine. The firearm was also found to not have a serial number.

Vick was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Defacement of a Firearm Serial Number, Trafficking of Class B Substance of More than 36 grams less than 100 grams, and Distribution of Class B. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
