Youth Violence Strike Force Arrested Suspect with 22 Grams of Crack Cocaine

At about 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Jashaun Benalfew, 22, of Roxbury, for drug trafficking and active warrants.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Old Colony Avenue when they observed two individuals walking on Logan Way. Officers were aware that one of the individuals had two active warrants for his arrest.

Officers approached the suspect, and immediately placed the suspect into handcuffs. During a search incident to arrest, officers recovered a large plastic bag containing crack cocaine from inside the suspect’s left jacket pocket. Officers also located a plastic bag of Fentanyl, and $947 in U.S. Currency. The second individual was promptly released from the scene.

Benalfew was placed under arrest and charged with Trafficking of Cocaine 18 to 36 grams, and Possession of Class A. The suspect also had two warrants for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B. He is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court.
