At about 10:05 PM, on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Jeky Ball, 27, of Randolph, and Ja’Vante Dodson, 24, of Boston, on firearm and drug offenses.
Officers were on patrol in the area of Dudley Street towards Blue Hill Avenue when their attention was drawn to a motor vehicle with an invalid inspection sticker. Officers followed the vehicle and activated their cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop.
Officers were able to stop the vehicle in the area of Winthrop Street and Fairland Street. Officers spoke with the occupants and could immediately smell burnt marijuana emanating from the vehicle. After further investigation, officers requested the occupants to exit the vehicle.
Officers recovered a large vacuum sealed bag of marijuana and a black scale from inside the vehicle. Officers further investigated and recovered two large plastic bags of illegal drugs, and a firearm.
The drugs were later weighed and determined to be 14 ounces of Marijuana, 49 grams of methamphetamine, 334 pills of pressed methamphetamine, and 200 pills of Fentanyl. The firearm was later determined to be a stolen Springfield XD9 with ten rounds in the magazine, and an unattached Syr Glock Switch.
Ball was placed under arrest and charged with Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Firearm Possession in Commission of a Felony, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition Subsequent Offense, Receiving Stolen Property, Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Subsequent Offense.
Dodson was placed under arrest and charged with Trafficking of Methamphetamine in 100 grams of More, Trafficking of Class A 18 Grams or More, and Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law.
Both are expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
