Officers were on patrol in the area of Blue Hill Avenue when they observed a motor vehicle operating at a high rate of speed towards Seaver Street. Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop.

The vehicle failed to stop for officers and continued to slow down until stopping in the area of Seaver Street and Maple Street. Officers made contact with the operator of the vehicle and advised him of the reason for the stop.

Officers removed the suspect from the vehicle, and a violent struggle ensued. Officers had to broadcast an Officer In-Trouble call over the radio. Officers from multiple districts converged onto the scene to assist in placing the suspect into handcuffs.

Officers conducted a motor vehicle inventory search and recovered a digital scale, a large white rock of Crack Cocaine, and a small white rock of Crack Cocaine. Officers also recovered multiple plastic bags of Marijuana, a marijuana grinder, and drug packaging material. The Crack Cocaine was weighed and determined to be a total of 34 grams.

Detectives responded to the scene and recovered the firearm from the vehicle. The firearm was later determined to be a Polymer 80 with five rounds in the magazine.
