Youth Violence Strike Force Arrests Stabbing Suspect in Dorchester

At approximately 10:10 AM on Monday, December 16, 2024, Officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force, along with the Massachusetts State Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit, arrested 38-year-old Jason Smith of Dorchester on an arrest warrant stemming from a stabbing investigation in Dorchester earlier this month.

On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a reported stabbing at 18 Fernboro Street in Dorchester. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from stab wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers secured the scene and requested the response of Detectives.

District B-2 Detectives began an extensive investigation into the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. Following several days of investigative work, Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Jason Smith. On December 16, Smith was apprehended without incident at 107 Devon Street in Dorchester by the Youth Violence Strike Force.

Jason Smith is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on the following charges:

  • Armed & Masked Robbery
  • Armed Assault to Rob
  • Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, to wit: Knife
  • Threats to Commit a Crime, to wit: To Kill
