Officers Recovered a Large Capacity Firearm Following a Traffic Stop in Roxbury

At about 1:22 AM, on Friday, November 22, 2024, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Jociel De Los Santos-Santana, 18, of Dorchester, on various firearm charges.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Bowdoin Street and Quincy Street when they observed a motor vehicle accelerate and operating at a high rate of speed towards Columbia Road. Officers began to follow the vehicle and observed it stop at a red light. When the light turn green, the vehicle began to accelerate quickly. Officers activated their cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop in the area of Quincy Street and Magnolia Street.

Officers made contact with the occupants and observed that the front passenger to have his right arm pinned to his body, and continuously checking his waistband. Officers also observed the rear passenger to not be wearing his seat belt. Officers requested identifications from all the occupants, but the rear passenger was unable to provide one.

After further investigation, officers requested the occupants to exit the vehicle. Officers conducted a pat frisk of the front passenger and recovered a firearm from his waistband. The firearm was later determined to be a Glock 19 with one round in the chamber, and twenty-nine rounds in an extended magazine that was capable of holding thirty-one rounds.

De Los Santos-Santana was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
