At about 9:22 PM, on September 23rd, 2024, Officers assigned to District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to a radio call for a Shot Spotter activation as well as a report of shots fired at 277 Centre St., Jamaica Plain. Responding officers found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported by Boston EMS to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Officers recovered several firearms on-scene during their investigation and additional officers pursued an adult male, identified as Edwin Vinales, 19, of Boston, who discarded a firearm. Officers apprehended Vinales and recovered a semi-automatic firearm with an extended magazine, capable of holding more than ten rounds of ammunition.
Edwin Vinales was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for the charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
