Three Firearms Recovered After a Party in Mattapan

At about 4:35 AM, on Monday, September 16, 2024, officers assigned District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to the area of 24 Rexford Road for a report of a loud party. Officers have responded to the location for previous incidents and were aware that the entrance to the party was through the backyard.

Officers made their way to the bulkhead basement door, and immediately observed that it was padlocked from the outside. The padlock prevented those inside from exiting the building. Officers knocked on the door multiple times without an answer.

While on scene, officers could hear the audibly blaring smoke alarms coming from inside the residence. Officers now fearing life-threatening conditions, made forced entry into a side door which was also padlocked.

Upon entrance into the basement, officers immediately observed over fifty people inside. Officers also observed a bar constructed that was fully stocked, multiple hookahs, and air conditioners operating without proper ventilation.

As officers were speaking with partygoers, they began to smell gas and open flames in the form of lit candles were also present. Officers requested all occupants to exit the building, and the Boston Fire Department was requested to respond.

Partygoers began to exit the building, and officers observed a male suspect attempting to quickly bypass them. Officers observed the suspect hiding behind a female, and attempting to conceal his waistband. Officers were able to separate the suspect, and conducted a pat frisk. Officers located a large vape as well as three credit cards with different names.

A second suspect jumped off the porch and was immediately stopped by officers. The suspect began to resist officers and a struggle ensued. Officers were able to safely place the suspect into handcuffs.

Officers began to conduct a protective sweep of the basement to determine that no one was still inside. Officers observed three discarded firearms through the interior of the basement. The firearms were determined to be a Ruger LC9 with an obliterated serial number with four rounds in the magazine, a Polymer 80 with one round in the chamber and twelve rounds in the magazine, and a Sig Sauer P238 with five rounds in the magazine.

Fitzgerald Custodio-Pimentel, 31, of Jamaica Plain was placed under arrest and charged with Disorderly Conduct, Trespassing, Resisting Arrest, and Interfering with a Police Officer.

Jorge Vargas-Jimenez, 35, of Mattapan, was also placed under arrest and charged with Three Counts of Receiving Stolen Property, Disorderly Conduct, Trespassing, Resisting Arrest, and Interfering with a Police Officer.

Both are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
