At about 9:31 PM, on Sunday, September 15, 2024, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested Jakeem Hanson, 30, of Boston, on firearm charges.
Officers responded to the area of 505 Geneva Avenue for a report of a person with a gun. Boston Police Operations provided officers with a description of the suspect. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect walking on Geneva Avenue towards Park Street.
As officers exited their marked cruiser, the suspect took off in a full sprint and a foot chase ensued. Officers observed the suspect holding a firearm in his hand, and making a throwing motion. Officers were able to apprehend the suspect in the area of Bournside Street and Paisley Park.
Officers conducted a search of the suspect and recovered seventeen small plastic bags of crack cocaine. Officers recovered the firearm which was later determined to be Taurus PT 22 with one round in the chamber and seven rounds in the magazine.
Hanson was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Resisting Arrest, and Possession to Distribute Class B. Officers also determined that the suspect had four active arrest warrants. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
