Officers Recovered a Loaded Firearm in Dorchester

At about 10:18 PM, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Octavio Nares-Green, 18, of Dorchester, on firearm charges.

Officers responded to the area of 53 Mather Street for a shot spotter activation. Boston Police Operations provided officers with a description of two male suspects running from the scene towards Washington Street.

Upon arrival officers observed two males matching the description running across Washington Street from Melville Avenue. Officers pulled their cruiser next to the suspects, who began to sprint from officers while clutching the front of their waistbands. The suspects jumped a fence, and officers lost sight of them.

Officers broadcasted a description of the fleeing suspects, and began to canvas their flight path. Officers were able to recover a firearm from where the suspects jumped the fence. The firearm was later determined to be a Smith & Wesson 9mm with one round in the chamber and five rounds in a magazine that was capable of holding sixteen rounds.

As officers searched for the suspects, they were able to locate one of them in the area of 14 West Tremlett. The other suspect made good on his escape.

Nares-Green was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Trespassing. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
