Downtown Officers Arrested Drug Distribution Suspect

At about 9:30 PM, on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) arrested Jaden Mathieu, 21, of Boston, for drug distribution.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Summer Street near Chauncy Street when they observed a group of individuals congregating in the area. Officers observed one of the individuals to have a large folding knife clipped to the inside of his left pant pocket.

Officers stopped the suspect, and immediately seized the knife. Officers placed the suspect into handcuffs, and advised the suspect of the reason for the stop. Officers conducted a pat frisk of the suspect and recovered an object believed to be crack cocaine. Officers now continued to search the suspect and located approximately $328 in US currency. Officers also recovered ten oxycodone tablets from inside the suspect’s fanny pack.

Mathieu was placed under arrest and charged with Two Counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B, and Carrying a Dangerous Weapon. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
