At about 2:34 PM, on Saturday, August 3, 2024, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) arrested Xavier DeJesus, 27, of Lawrence, on armed robbery charges.
Officers responded to the area of 6 Congress Street for a report of a fight. Upon arrival, officers were advised that the two involved parties fled inside the Boston Public Market. Both parties were stopped by security prior to entry.
Officers spoke with the victim who advised officers that the suspect attempted to steal his bicycle. The suspect punched, and bit the victim before attempting to flee. The victim was able to follow the suspect before both were stopped at the Public Market.
DeJesus was placed under arrest and charged with Armed Robbery, Assault and Battery, and False ID Information Furnished to Law Enforcement. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
