At about 2:25 AM, on Monday, July 29, 2024, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) arrested Tahjay Jones, 26, of Boston, on assault and battery charges.
Officers responded to the area of 2 Center Plaza for a report of a person with a knife. Boston Police Operations advised officers that a male suspect was chasing customers with a knife. Upon arrival, officers were advised that the suspect randomly attacked a patron with a boxcutter.
Officers were also made aware that a second victim had been assaulted. One of the victims refused medical treatment, and the second victim was transported by Boston EMS to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers observed the suspect matching the description in a vehicle with a group of females outside of the bar.
Jones was placed under arrest and charged with Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon, and Assault and Battery. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
