At about 9:05 AM, on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, members of the Human Trafficking Unit, Fugitive Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, and the Massachusetts State Police High-Risk Victims Unit, arrested Michael J. Cox, 39, of Worcester on Drug Trafficking and Child Pornography charges.
Officers were conducting an ongoing investigation in the area of 11 S Edlin Street, Worcester. Officers were armed with a straight warrant out of Dorchester District Court for Possession of Child Pornography, Dissemination of Obscene Material to a Minor, Enticement of a Child under 16.
Officers knocked and announced their presence, and the target of the investigation answered the door. The suspect was immediately placed into handcuffs, and officers conducted a search incident to arrest. Officers recovered a plastic bag containing crystal methamphetamine, and two glass pipes. The apartment was then secured pending a search warrant.
At about 2:18 PM, officers executed the search warrant and recovered various packages of methamphetamine, multiple glass pipes, three cell phones, five hard drives, and two laptops. The crystal methamphetamine was later determined to weigh approximately 462 grams.
Cox was placed under arrest and charged with Trafficking of Class B over 200 grams. The suspect’s warrant was for Possession of Child Pornography, Dissemination of Obscene Material to a Minor, and Enticement of a Child under 16.
