Officers in Dorchester Arrest Suspect and Recover Firearm Following Person With A Gun Call

At about 12:46 PM, on Tuesday, July 9th, 2024, Officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a 911 call from a person with an unwanted guest in her home that was in possession of a firearm.

Officers arrived at the 911 callers home located on Tremlett St. in Dorchester, and located an open door in the rear of the building. Officers conducted a protective sweep of her apartment and located the suspect, William Wood, 50, of Roxbury, sleeping on a couch with a firearm underneath his head. Officers safely secured the firearm and placed Wood into custody.

C-11 Detectives secured the apartment and after obtaining a search warrant, recovered a firearm determined to be a Strike Industries P80C home-built Glock 19 style 9mm handgun with no serial number, loaded with three rounds of ammo in the 10-round magazine and one round in the chamber.

William Wood was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the charges of Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
