District D-4 Officers Recover Firearm and Arrest Suspect Following Call for Person With a Gun.

At about 10:07 PM, on Tuesday, June 24th, 2024, District D-4 (Back Bay/ South End) recovered a firearm and arrested Windell Davis, 44, of Randolph, following a call for a person with a gun at 94 W. Newton St, Boston.

Prior to officers responding to 94 W. Newton St, radio operations notified officers about multiple 911 calls regarding a male victim being “jumped” near W. Canton St. and Tremont St. and pulling out a firearm on his attackers. A final 911 call came in for a person bleeding from the chest at 94 W Newton St. Due to the proximity of calls, the officers believed that the person bleeding from the chest obtained the injuries from the assault a few blocks away, and possibly displayed a firearm following the incident.

Officers were patrolling the area of W Newton St. looking for a suspect when the final 911 call for a person bleeding came in.  Officers arrived at the address and observed Windell Davis with what appeared to be injuries. An investigation followed and Officers recovered a firearm from Davis’s pants pocket.

District D-4 Detectives responded and determined the firearm was a Smith and Wesson MP Bodyguard, loaded with one round (.380) in the chamber and 5 rounds loaded in the magazine.

Windel Davis is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court for the charges of Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, Firearm Violation with One Prior Violent and/or Drug Crime, Assault & Battery Dangerous Weapon, and Assault.
