At about 3:39 AM, on Friday, June 21, officers assigned to the Anti-Crime Unit of District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested Carlos Pires, 18 of Brockton, and Deandrew Pinto, 20, of Boston, on firearm charges.
Officers responded to the area of 56 Richfield Street for a report of a person with a gun. Officers were advised by Boston Police Operations that the call had been updated to shots fired, and provided a description of a suspect.
Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect running towards Bowdoin Street. Officers lost sight of the suspect and observed the suspect walking from the rear of 36 Norton Street. As officers approached the suspect, a second male approached and stated in Cape Verdean-Creole “where did you put it?”. One of the officers who is fluent in Cape Verdean-Creole, was aware of the utterance, and began to canvass the area.
Officers located a firearm and immediately placed Pires into handcuffs. At this time, a crowd began to cause a disturbance near the arrest. Officers observed a male individual walking away from the group, and walking towards a parked car in the driveway at 30 Norton Street.
Officers approached the individual and observed a back bag behind the driver’s side wheel. Officers recovered a firearm from the bag, and immediately placed the suspect into handcuffs.
The firearms were determined to be a Glock 19 with one round in the chamber and twenty-two rounds in the magazine, and a Black FN FNS-9 with one round in the chamber and sixteen rounds in the magazine.
Both suspects were placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Trespassing. Both are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
