Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested in Dorchester

At about 12:36 AM, on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Jose Ramirez-Martinez, 38, of Dorchester, on armed robbery charges.

Officers responded to the area of 535 Columbia Road for a report of an armed robbery. Officers were advised that the suspect pointed a firearm at a victim and demanded money. The suspect stole approximately $140 and then pistol-whipped the victim.

Officers requested Boston EMS to respond to the scene for medical assistance. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers were provided a description of the suspect, and began to canvass the area. Officers observed an individual matching the description in the area of 471 Columbia Road. As officers exited their cruiser, the suspect immediately put his hands in the air. Officers were able to positively identify the suspect and he was taken into custody.

Ramirez-Martinez was placed under arrest and charged with armed robbery. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
