Firearm Recovered in Roxbury by B-2 Anti-Crime Unit

At about 1:30 AM, on Monday, June 17, 2024, officers assigned to the Anti-Crime Unit of District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Jermaine Thomas, 48, of Boston, on firearm and drug charges.

Officers responded to the area of Fernboro Street and Intervale Street for shot spotter activation. Officers did not locate any potential victims or evidence, but observed a motor vehicle leaving the area going the wrong way down Intervale Street.

Officers observed the motor vehicle operating at a high rate of speed, and making quick abrupt turns. Officers then observed the vehicle pull into a parking lot, and then exit without stopping at a red light. At this time, officers activated their cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop.

Officers approached the vehicle, and advised the occupants of the reason for the traffic stop. After further investigation, officers requested the occupants to exit the vehicle. The front passenger refused to comply with officers’ commands. After multiple requests, officers were able to get the passenger out of the vehicle.

Officers conducted a pat frisk and recovered a firearm from the suspect’s shorts pocket. The firearm was later determined to be a Taurus PT738 TCP with one round in the chamber and five rounds in the magazine.

Officers searched the suspect and recovered a plastic bag containing crack cocaine which weighed approximately 15 grams. Officers also recovered two knives, one was spring loaded, and about $537 in US currency.

Thomas was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Firearm Violation with three Prior Violent/Drug Crimes, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; 4th Offense, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Loaded; 4th Offense, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition; Subsequent Offense, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
