B-2 Anti-Crime Unit Recovered a Firearm from Two Juveniles in Roxbury

At about 12:45 AM, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, officers assigned to the Anti-Crime Unit of District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested two 17-year-old males on firearm charges.

Officers responded to the area of Humboldt Avenue and Homestead Street for a report of a loud music disturbance. As officers approached the area, they observed two males walking from the area. Once the two males saw officers, they began to walk at a hurried pace in a different direction.

As officers turned their cruiser around to speak with the males, they both began to run up Munroe Street. Officers observed one of the males to be clutching his waistband as he was running. A foot pursuit ensued, and officers observed one of the males to be holding a firearm.

Officers gave verbal commands for the suspects to stop, and to drop the gun. One suspect was able to jump over a fence in an attempt to flee. The other suspect was apprehended before he could jump the fence, and a violent struggle ensued. Officers told the suspect to stop resisting which he refused, but were able to place him into handcuffs.

Officers gave chase to the other fleeing suspect, and observed a discarded firearm behind the fence. Officers were able to locate the suspect hiding in a bush in a backyard on Munroe Street. The firearm was later determined to be a Glock 20 with twelve rounds in the magazine.

One 17-year-old juvenile male was placed under arrest and charged with delinquent to wit; unlawful possession of a firearm, delinquent to wit; unlawful possession of ammunition, delinquent to wit; unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, delinquent to wit; destruction of property, delinquent to wit; trespassing, and resisting arrest.

The other 17-year-old juvenile male was placed under arrest and charged with delinquent to wit; destruction of property, delinquent to wit; trespassing, and resisting arrest.

Both are expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
