B-3 Officers arrest suspect flashing gun in broad daylight

At approximately 2:59 PM on Monday, May 20, 2024, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan), aided by officers from Districts B-2 (Roxbury) and C-11 (Dorchester), apprehended Andrew Marshall, 43, of Dorchester, on firearm-related charges.

The arrest followed reports of an individual brandishing a firearm in the vicinity of 217 Columbia Rd. Dispatch described the suspect as a black male in his 40s, allegedly part of a larger group. Upon reaching the scene, officers identified a suspect matching the description. Subsequent investigation led to the discovery of a loaded Smith and Wesson .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun, containing nine rounds of live ammunition in a magazine capable of holding ten rounds.

Marshall was taken into custody and faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition. He is slated to appear for arraignment at Dorchester District Court.
