At about 8:17 PM, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Nick St. Jilus, 19, of Randolph, on firearm charges.
Officers responded to the area of 555 River Street for a report of a disturbance being caused by a large group of people in the street. The group was blocking the free flow of traffic, and not letting people come or go.
As an officer arrived on scene, she was quickly surrounded by the group who then began to jump on the hood of her cruiser. Numerous B-3 officers and members of the Youth Violence Strike Force converged on the area to disperse the crowd.
Officers advised the group that they needed to leave the area, but they continued to be confrontational. Officers observed a male individual wearing a backpack separate from the group, and walked into a parking lot with a posted “No Trespassing” sign. Officers followed the individual and observed him walking towards a motor vehicle.
Officers heard one of the doors close, and observed the suspect walking from the vehicle, but he was no longer wearing a backpack. Officers approached the suspect, and attempted to speak with him. The suspect ignored officers, and attempted to flee. Officers were able to stop the suspect, and frisked the motor vehicle.
Officers recovered a firearm from inside the vehicle, and attempted to place the suspect into handcuffs. The suspect immediately went limp, and officers requested Boston EMS to respond to the scene. EMTs attempted to place the suspect onto a medical gurney, but he then attempted to flee. Officers quickly gained control of the suspect, and placed him in a marked cruiser to be transported for booking.
The firearm was later determined to be a Century Arms TP9 with twenty-six rounds in the magazine and one round in the chamber.
St. Jilus was placed under arrest and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, trespassing, and resisting arrest. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
