Investigation Update: Suspect Arrested After Shooting incident in Dorchester

Investigation Update: On Friday, March 29, 2024, Detectives assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested Irvin Woods, 27, of Dorchester, on firearm related charges. After further investigation, detectives were able to determine that Woods was involved in a prior incident shooting incident. At the time of the arrest, the suspect was wanted on a warrant out of Dorchester District Court for unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and open container of alcohol. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

The facts and circumstances surrounding the original incident are as follows: At about 9:07 PM, on Sunday, March 24, 2024, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to the area of Dorchester Avenue and Ashmont Street for a report of a person shot. Prior to officers arrival, there were two separate shot spotter activations in the area of 567 Talbot Avenue. Upon arrival, officers observed an adult male victim suffering from multiple gun shot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
