To celebrate World Down Syndrome Day BPD officers and civilian staff from our District B-2 station participated in Crazy Sock Day!
March 21st was chosen to be the day because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome. Socks are symbolic because the karyotype – a picture of our chromosomes, stained for viewing under a microscope – of the Down Syndrome chromosome is said to look like mismatched socks!
Lots of fun was had showing off the array of crazy socks our officers were rocking while raising awareness in honor of World Down Syndrome Day!!!
