On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, detectives assigned to District (A-1) Downtown, Drug Control Units of A-1 and E-13 (Jamaica Plain), and members of the Auto Theft Unit, arrested Dion Caruthers, 24, of Roxbury, and Josiah Campbell, 18, of Roxbury, following an investigation into a recent unarmed robbery incident.
Detectives were conducting an ongoing investigation and execution of arrest and search warrants in the area of 37 Walnut Park. As a result of the warrants, officers placed two suspects into custody. Detectives also recovered 23 grams of Cocaine, and 10 grams of believes to be a cutting agent for illegal drug distribution.
With the assistance of the Auto Theft Unit, detectives were able to recover three scooters, and one scooter was determined to be stolen.
Both suspects were placed under arrest and charged with unarmed robbery. Both are expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court. Detectives will seek additional charges for drug trafficking, and receiving stolen property.
The facts and circumstances surrounding the earlier incident is as follows: At about 12:09 PM, on Thursday, March 7, 2024, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) responded to the area of 21 Milk Street for a report of an unarmed robbery.
Upon arrival, officers were advised that two unknown males on scooters, stole items from a victim who had recently made purchases at 21 Milk Street. The suspects fled the area towards Otis Street.
A-1 Detectives were able to track the suspects through video surveillance and observed them stop in a driveway located at 37 Walnut Park. Detectives conducted surveillance, and after further investigation, they were able to obtain arrest/search warrants for the involved suspects.
